BMW is always changing his engine, more and more exciting. Next spring, the Europeans will be able to feel the power of their smallest engine in 2 Series shared Minicooper. The Bavarian company will also introduce several other tuning for this compact coupe.

BMW 218i is the basic model of the new Series 2, and it shares the 1.5 liter turbocharged engine with three cylinders for Mini family. This engine squeeze 134 horsepower and 162 lb / ft of torque is the same, but BMW says it gives her a little small tuning. First of all, the orientation of the engine changed to load it extends under the hood and driving the rear wheels. What is important, buyers can order it with the eight-speed automatic transmission, rather than the six-speed transmission as found on the Mini.

BMW claims that this small engine delivers a 50:50 weight distribution 218i, and it takes about 8.8 seconds to reach 62 mph (100kmh) with six-speed manual transmission is standard. Whatever, the highest speed (top speed) is the same at 132 mph, both with manual or automatic transmission. In terms of acceleration has, it is said, one second slower than the new Minicooper.

Apart from this new base model, BMW will bring a few other additions in 2 Series for the European market. BMW 220d (diesel) are available with xDrive all-wheel drive, and BMW will introduce some variant called Advantage, Luxury, Sport and M Sport. As usual, each variant comes with different trim to meet the demands and expectations of customers.
