President Takata Resigning, Giving Control Back To the Chairman


With more than 24 million cars recalled (approximately 17 million from the United States) and at least five deaths, one of Takata will be blamed by the air bag problem. And now it seems his style Stefan Stocker will be blamed.

The first president born outside Japan, Stocker are the indigenous people of Sweden and participated in Takata since early 2013 after his career at Bosch. Stocker was named the president of Takata few months later, the concurrent role of Shigehisa Takada, grandson of the founder of the company who still served as chairman and CEO. According to recent reports, Stocker in the process to abdicate as president - voluntarily or otherwise - to give control of the company to the family Takada who still control the company's interests. Stocker, however, will still appear in the company's board.

Stocker resignation will reduce the public's concern Takata airbag problem, but the company will take other steps as well. For starters, Takada, Stocker and three senior executives will cut salaries for 4 months. The company also has a list of several former high-ranking US government officials - led by Samuel K. Skinner, former US Transportation Secretary and Chief of Staff of the White House - who will chair the new panel Quality Assurance for Takata. Together Skinner, Takata has named former US Transportation Secretary Rodney Slater and Norman Mineta as special advisor of the company.
