Ford Posts Record Sales Of the ASEAN region in 2014


The overall increase over five percent to 100.824 units sales record. It is driven by record annual sales in the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia and Myanmar, as well as increased market share in Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, January 12, 2015 - Ford Motor Company today announced sales for the entire ASEAN region in 2014 has increased to more than five per cent over the previous year with a record of 100.824 units.

Ford sales in ASEAN markets driven by the performance in 2014 in the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia and Myanmar. In addition to increased market share in Thailand, despite its domestic industry showed a significant decrease.

Ford sales in ASEAN led by the mendefisikan pickup truck segment and re-built in Thailand, namely Ford Ranger. It became the best-selling pickup truck in the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and the second best-selling in Malaysia.

Ranger sales in the ASEAN region increased by 10 percent over the past year to 50.190 units.

Ford sales in 2014 also received a tremendous boost with the launch of the compact urban SUV, the all-new EcoSport. It certainly offers an all-new vehicles in the ASEAN market.

The newly launched EcoSport is fast becoming the second best-selling Ford model in key markets such as Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia, with sales reaching 18,149unit in 2014.

"EcoSport have developed our showroom and enables Ford to connect with new customers throughout the region," said Bradley.

Increased Market Share, Post Record Sales

Thailand continues to be the leader in the list of Ford's overall performance in ASEAN to achieve sales of 38.087 units during the last year. In spite of the domestic market is quite slow, Ford Thailand continues to outpace the industry as a whole in 2014, thus helping to increase its market share over the last year by 0.5 percent to 4.4 percent.

Ford finished the year strong in Thailand with an increase in sales for three consecutive months, including in December that menyaksikn increase of almost 20 per cent to 3,471 units.

In the Philippines, Ford showed impressive sales performance for two consecutive years with its retail sales jumped by 53 percent to 20.341 units. Sales in December rose by 56 per cent compared to the same period last year to 1,903 units. Thus becoming the best quarterly performance Ford in the Philippines until now.

In Vietnam, Ford performed with total retail sales increased by 71 per cent to 13,988 units during the last year. This includes sales in December increased by 64 percent (the best monthly sales so far) with 1,650 units.

2014 outstanding also help Ford increase its market share in Vietnam to 1.4 percent over the previous year to 8.9 percent.

Besides Ranger pickup truck that became the best-selling in Vietnam, Transit also ended the year as the top-selling commercial van in Vietnam.

In Malaysia, Ford recorded an impressive annual performance for two consecutive years with total retail sales rose by 31 percent to 13,938 units. In Indonesia, Ford's sales last year rose more than 14 percent to 11,614 units.

Ford continued to see significant growth in emerging markets such as Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos with collective sales increased by 31 percent to 2,161 units. This includes record sales over the past year to Cambodia and Myanmar market. Ford also saw its sales increase by 14 percent over the previous year in Singapore.
