Bentley Bentayga SUV will be in a variant of plug-in hybrid and diesel in 2017

Bentayga Bentley SUV will add a variant plug-in hybrid and diesel variants in 2017, a year after the W12 model was launched to the world.

Hybrid variant will be able to travel about 31 miles in electric mode. It will have a V6 or V8 petrol engine to continue the journey, although a final decision has not been made to the engine which will be used later, said Chief Executive Officer Wolfgang Durheimer. Diesel engine, V8, will be the first diesel engine in a Bentley.

The company confirmed the "Bentayga" as the name of the new SUV at the Detroit Auto Show. According to Autoblog, Durheimer said British luxury maker has high ambitions for the next model. They expect to sell 3,500 units of the SUV in the world in 2016, which will increase the company's total sales to around 15,000 units. About a quarter of total sales Bentayga is expected to come from US customers.

Bentley can not take orders because the vehicle is not formally evaluated yet, but it already has a list of 4,000 customers who are interested in buying an SUV, and has largely put down a deposit.

"Our customers love with this idea," said Durheimer. "We see an SUV as part of a growing market worldwide."

Bentayga has changed since the concept is removed (called EXP 9 F), exhibited at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, where such a form before it has been modified to look more like a model production Bentley. However, parts of the interior is almost identical to the original concept.
